Kutaisi is the capital of the Imereti region. One of the oldest cities in the country, the town offers some of the most ancient cultural landmarks worth exploring. You will find caves, cathedrals, dinosaur footprints, and a fountain dedicated to the ancient Greek myth of the Argonauts.
Sataplia Nature Reserve:
The name Sataplia is translated into English as "place of honey"; named so because of the tradi-tion of collecting honey from bees living in this small reserve located in Tskhaltubo, just 12 km from Kutaisi. the reserve has a museum, viewing platforms, a cafeteria, and glass walkways. The tour of the reserve starts from the cave, crosses the hill underground, and then returns, bypassing the dinosaur tracks. The cave is 900 meters long, 10 meters high, and 12 meters wide. The cave boasts illuminated stalagmites and stalactites that highlight its natural beauty.
Bagrati Cathedral:
The jewel of medieval architecture, built in the eleventh century. One of the largest religious sites in the country, the Cathedral was commissioned by King Bagrat III and still carries his name.
Gelati monastery:
Located near Bagrati, was built in 1106 by King David IV, also known as David the Builder in Georgian history. Since 1994, Bagrati and Gelati have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites as a single entity.
Parliament Building:
This futuristic building is the new addition to Kutaisi. Designed by Alberto Domingo Cabo, a Spanish architect. There are tours available in the building, where you’ll be able to learn more about the design of the buildings, learn about the history of the parliamentary system, mission, structure, and roles.
Prometheus cave:
Prometheus Cave, or Kumistavi Cave, is also located near Tsklatubo, 20 km from Kutaisi. Dis-covered in 1984, the cave is one of Georgia's natural wonders. The walking route with a length of 1060 meters takes about an hour to explore. In addition, since 2012, boat rides on the under-ground river with breathtaking views have been offered.
The name of the cave comes from the Caucasian myth of Amirani. According to legend, just like Prometheus, Amirani angered the gods and was punished by being chained somewhere inside the cave.

Cuisine:
- The most famous dish, which should not be missed, is the Adjarian Khachapuri. Khachapuri is a traditional Georgian meal and is a kind of cheese pie with an egg. Another traditional dish is Khinkali. A kind of dough packet in which they put some kind of meatballs.
The traditional Georgian bread called Tonis Puri is also very good. It's well-flavored, fluffy, and has an excellent crunchy crust. The bread is baked in a special oven and glued to its walls with a special cushion.
Wine- with a history of over 8000 years. Georgia is considered the country where wine was born. Saperavi is the most cultivated grape variety in Georgia and the most popular Georgian wine.
