Tbilisi is the sunny capital of Georgia.

What to visit in Tbilisi?

Old Town:

The heart of Tbilisi is the Old Town, you cross the Kura River and head to the most atmospheric part of Tbilisi: Old Tbilisi, ancient buildings made of bricks and clay, narrow cobbled streets and carved wooden balconies meandering between them - an indispensable part of Georgian houses are there everywhere.

Sioni Cathedral:

Sioni Cathedral is historically the main temple of Tbilisi and is located on the banks of the Kura River in the Old City.

Anchiskhati Basilica:

The oldest building in Tbilisi is the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The church was built in the 6th century after the transfer of the capital of Georgia to Tbilisi. 

Narikala Castle:

The majestic structure, which is older than the city itself, despite the severe destruction, it looks impressive. An unreal view of the city opens up from here.

Sulfur Baths:

Warm water enriched with minerals from deep underground is used inside the dome-shaped sulfur baths of Old Tbilisi. 

Mtatsminda District:

The Mtatsminda area is known for many interesting places that were built on the mountain of the same name.

The central part of the city is Rustaveli Avenue with the Parliament, the National Museum, all kinds of theaters, hotels, restaurants and shops.

Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba):

With a height of 87 meters, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is the largest Orthodox Cathedral of Georgia and its golden dome can be spotted from pretty much everywhere in Tbilisi.

Armenian heritage in Georgia - the 19th century church of Shamkhoretsots Surb Astvatsatsin Karmir Avetaran. 

Metekhi district:

The famed Metekhi Church is located in one of Tbilisi’s most historic districts, atop a striking cliff where local legend has it the city’s patron saint was martyred in the 8th century. Built during the Middle Ages, Metekhi Church comprises three eastward facing apses and four towering pillars.

What to enjoy in Tbilisi:

Cuisine:

- The most famous dish, which should not be missed, is the Adjarian Khachapuri. Khachapuri is a traditional Georgian meal and is a kind of cheese pie with egg. Another traditional dish is Khinkali. A kind of dough packet in which they put some kind of meatballs.

The traditional Georgian bread called Tonis Puri is also very good. It's well-flavored, fluffy and has an excellent crunchy crust. The bread is baked in a special oven and glued to its walls with a special cushion.

Wines- with a history of over 8000 years. Georgia is considered the country where wine was born. Saperavi is the most cultivated grape variety in Georgia and the most popular Georgian wine.
