Yerevan - is a magnificent, hospitable capital of Armenia.

It is one of the most ancient cities in the world, it is older than Rome and Athens. Yerevan is also called the pink city: most of the buildings in the center are faced with the stone of this color. From the first seconds, the city surrounds you with warmth, care, contrasting combinations of modern buildings with old cozy courtyards, delicious cuisine, wonderful climate, fresh mountain air, and a special flavor of friendly hospitable Yerevan residents. Yerevan, first of all, these are people - a city where you want to return again and again.

What to visit in Yerevan?

City Center

The heart of Yerevan is Republic Square. It is the focal point during any national celebration and the default meeting place for locals and visitors alike. It’s also where you’ll find the National Art Gallery and the Museum of Armenian History. The decoration of this place is the singing fountains in front of the building of the Museum of History. Singing Yerevan fountains is a symbol of the evening Yerevan, a mesmerizing, very romantic, and never annoying sight.

The Cascade

It is simply impossible to imagine Yerevan without its main attraction - the Cascade. These are artistically decorated staircases, sculptures, fountains, which in general represent a monumental structure of architecture that adorns the city. There are countless open-air installations, exhibitions and concerts at different levels, as well as the Cafesjian Center for the Arts. Climbing up The Cascade offers spectacular views across the city and Mount Ararat.

Erebuni Fortress

This is where the history of Yerevan begins. This most important landmark is 2800 years old and is considered a symbol of Armenian statehood. Yerevan comes precisely from the ancient name of the fortress - "Erebuni".

Matenadaran Manuscript Museum

The Matenadaran Museum of Manuscripts is one of the world's largest collections of ancient texts. The books are just a part of the collection. The Matenadaran also houses researchers and restorers, who source, restore and catalog important Armenian books spread across the diaspora.

Sergei Parajanov Museum

Sergei Parajanov Museum was a leading Soviet Armenian Avant-grade director and artist and the museum, set in a traditional home overlooking the Hrazdan gorge, is a testament to his fertile and often bizarre artistic vision.

Ararat Brandy Factory

Churchill's favorite drink is Yerevan brandy, you can get acquainted with the history of the creation of a soul-warming drink, the Armenian "Ararat". Created using French cognac-making methods, Ararat remains popular and a tour of the distillery, set in an imposing building overlooking the Hrazdan river, is a great way to sample this award-winning spirit and understand its importance – then and now

Vernissage Market

Vernissage is the biggest flea market in Yerevan, selling various works of traditional Armenian art such as carpets, wood carvings, paintings, musical instruments, and jewelry.

What to enjoy in Yerevan:

Cuisine:

There is a cult of food in Armenia, which is why a trip to Yerevan will be like a gastro tour. There is a very large number of restaurants, eateries, and fast food outlets, where both Armenian, Caucasian, and European dishes are delicious. You should definitely try the "khorovats" garnished with fresh herbs and vegetables, "kyufta" meatballs, "khinkali" dumplings, and "dolma" made from grape leaves. And to quench your thirst with "tan" - a light, slightly salted fermented milk drink.

The peculiarity of summer Yerevan is its fantastic outdoor cafes. As the weather warms up, in the parks and boulevards around the Opera House, at the foot of the Cascade, on Saryan Street, there are many open-air cafes and restaurants, and it seems that everyone is sipping coffee, soaking up the sun, and socializing.
